2015 Golf Tournament at the Montreal Country Club in Saint-Lambert

Our twentieth edition: An historic success!

In 2015, the Women’s Centre Foundation’s annual golf tournament celebrated its twentieth anniversary. The event, which took place Monday, August 31 at the Montreal Country Club, was a success across the board with registration at capacity a month before the event, enabling us to collect the largest amount yet in its history, or more than 72,000 in net earnings. Its success can be attributed to the energy of our co-presidents, Ms. Giovanna Francovilla of RBC Wealth Management Private Banking and Mr. Guy Lamarre of Ivanhoé Cambridge/Caisse de dépôt et placement, the event’s patrons, our many sponsors, as well as the 152 participants who enthusiastically accepted our invitation.

For the occasion, one of our most faithful participants over the years, Mr. Jacques Chagnon, president of the National Assembly and Member for Westmount/St. Louis, told the story of the event’s creation, with its first edition in 1996 at Boucherville’s Golf des Iles. Mr. Chagnon also took the time to emphasize the importance of the work the Centre has accomplished and renewed his support as Member for his riding, as he has been for almost 30 years.

On her side, the president of the Foundation’s board of directors, Ms. Marie-Claude Frigon, warmly thanked our co-presidents and reiterated the many different ways to support the Centre’s activities. As an example, she presented the activity led by her office (Richter), in the company of two other partners (RBC and BCF Business Law), called Suited for a cause, which provides clothing to women at the Employability Service who are preparing to attend job interviews.

Ms. Manon Dumoulin delivered a moving address, describing the support and services she encountered at the Centre’s Employability Service for women aged fifty and older after the loss of her job, services which enabled her to regain confidence and find a job that met her highest expectations.

The Centre’s executive director reminded us all of the mission and importance of the services offered by the Centre for the past 43 years.

The evening, skillfully animated by Karen Torgerson, was enjoyed in true festive spirit.
In the name of the board members of the Centre and the Foundation, and the whole team of workers and volunteers at the Centre, from the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
